We purchased our home and property in Montpelier in 2005.
The house was new but the farm needed some work and through
our lengthy research we knew that starting an Alpaca farm
could have some great tax advantages. My husband and I share
a love for animals so once we had spent many hours and months
researching alpacas, visiting several farms and becoming acquainted
with the alpaca personality we decided that raising these
unique animals really seemed to be an enjoyable venture. So,
off to rebuild the fencing and barns we went, doing all the
work ourselves preparing for the arrival of the creatures
we have come to love. We spent a lot of time and effort trying
to find an investment that would take the property that we
just purchased and in the long haul make a little money while
providing us with a wonderful bonding experience with some
wonderful creatures. We had discovered Alpacas. The Alpacas
seem to be the perfect fit for our lifestyle and personal
goals. We have enjoyed the Alpaca lifestyle ever since.
Although, we both have more than full time jobs off the farm,
(we are both accountants) we have plenty of time to spend
with our alpacas. That is one of the huge benefits of having
an alpaca farm. Once you have your farm set up properly, the
maintenance is minimal. They are truly easy and rewarding
to care for if you love animals the joy you get from them
is priceless. Yes, we are probably a couple like some of the
commercials you see on TV about the alpacas. We see raising
alpaca as another avenue on the road to retirement with a
lifestyle that is simple and extremely rewarding.
The primary goal of our farm will be to concentrate on bloodlines,
confirmation and fiber quality. We believe that staying focused
on quality breedings to produce the best possible fiber is
going to be the way of the future in this industry and the
better your fiber quality, the more return on your investment
you will receive. We have been extremely satisfied with the
selection of animals we made when establishing our initial
herd. Our high quality animals include the bloodlines from
PP Peruvian Royal Fawn, The Double E Hannibal, MFI Peruvian
White Knight and with our latest acquisition, we now have
the nephew of one of the latest alpaca sensations, Peruvian
Ion. If you are already familiar with the most valuable
bloodlines, then you will recognize these bloodlines, if you
are not, Google them and read the valuable information on
these lines. Once you do your research, you will discover
that these bloodlines have sold in the six figure range. One
of our herd sires is of the Peruvian Ion line and one of our
up and coming herd sires is from the Peruvian Royal Fawn line.
We would like to share more of our personal experiences with
alpaca farming with you, so please come to our farm for a
one on one consultation, we will be happy to schedule appointments.
